It is with great sorrow that I pass this on to the many guys who knew Doug Walraven. Doug was not a gas collector, but he bought, traded, found and did everthing to help collectors add to their habit. Many in the West had dealings with him as he sold from Arizona to Washington and beyond.
Doug had Lukema for about five years yet he shared it with but a few. It is difficult to say much now except that this is one person who will always be with me down the road.
For those who might know family, please don't call for three weeks.

Al, like you, I knew that Doug was having a real tough go of it for the last 2-3 months. He was always a blast to be around & if you were his friend, I don't think there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for you. I have some great stuff on my walls that Doug found/sold me. Guess I'll kinda look at 'em differently from now on. RIP Buddy....

wow..I am SORRY to hear that. Doug was very cool and always nice to me at the gas bashes. He turned up some great stuff. I didnt even know he was ill, he certainly did not portray that in the way he interacted with people. He will be missed..my thoughts are with him . friends and Family.

Wow. What a sad shocker. Doug was a super guy. I met him 3 years ago at Hot August Nights at the Swap Meet Fairgrounds. Very helpful, extremely caring and a quick friendship was established.
He was very unselfish and loved the tresure hunt. Once he knew what I liked he made many phone calls to me with new automobilia items he had discovered.
He showed his courage and dignity by not complaining or looking for sympathy from others regarding his illness.
What a class act.
This hobby is losing a special person.

Doug has left the building way too soon.He was one of the original West Coast class acts,and made swap meets and gas bashes fun for everyone.A great guy who always had a huge smile,some choice pieces, and an ice cold one for all of us.He will be missed greatly,and there will be a void in the lives of all that knew or dealt with him. Amen. Talked to a few of us west coast guys tonight, this is a tough one. Fred Stoke, Doug & I kinda likened ourselves to the 3 Stooges & nothing was off limits. At the Portland swap meet, Doug's booth was THE place to meet everybody. Same with the big antique shows. Fred's bashes will never be the same.... we miss you already Doug......
