Anyone know how to take paint off a porcelain sign. They just did not remove the sign when they painted the wall. Just on the outside of sinclair lubication and washing signs.

THIS RARE MOBILGAS MARINE HAD ONE SIDE COMPLETELY PAINTED OVER WHEN I BOUGHT IT:


1. BEFORE I TOUCHED IT WITH ANY STRIPPERS AND THINNERS.

2. ABOUT 2 HOURS INTO STRIPPING....WAS COLD SO IT TOOK LONGER!

3. FINISHED, ALL PAINT REMOVED AND WIPE CLEAN WITH LACQUER THINNERS.

4. OPPOSITE SIDE IN SOME WHAT BETTER COND!

I have tried them all, the best and simplest I have found is EASY OFF oven cleaner, spray it on let it work and scrape it off, it may take a few layers., Rick

Paint remover always worked for me. Never damaged a porcelain sign.

I have some Texaco Porcelain trim panels that went around the top of the station and there were several coats of paint & tar. I have access to a large hot tank and it strips the paint & tar in one day without any damage.

I just bought a porcelain Coke palm push and it was covered in paint and I always use paint stripper and to make it shine use toilet bowl cleaner it has a little acid in it..and 0000 steel wool. Just make sure it's a porcelain sign NOT painted tin?

Be very very cautious with cleaners containing caustic or harsh acids, as some porcelain can be damaged, while others will not. I have never had paint stripper damage any porcelain, and it does the job...RD
