In the upcoming Aumann Auction there is a Lanes Gasoline sign. Does anyone know anything about this company? Where is it from? Who bought it out etc? I am thinking about taking out a second (jk) to buy the sign for my daughter lanie... Scott

Scootdog this is just a guess but the sign may have been made by Lane Christenson (from Utah) who used to repair porcelain signs...he may have been parcial to Sunset Gasoline as has a similar look to it....m.m.
Wanted early tin litho signage. petro, farm, auto, etc.

I agree with MM on the similarity to the SUNSET signs. GASOLINE is the same font & color as SUNSET. Dick

Scott, If Lane Christiansen made this sign I would venture to say it will be a most amazing piece--We had him restore a thermometer for us a few tears ago and when that thing came back it looks dead mint--I mean almost scarry. He would have before pics of signs at Indy Ad and the signs with him.Really amazing. He wouldnt reveal his secrets though and wasnt cheap either. He really is quite an artist/craftsman.I dont think he does it anymore --maybe I'm wrong. JimT

This is a fantasy sign but it was made by David Lane from Tulsa,OK. He use to restore signs as well. He made a few of these signs and gave some to his better customers with either his name or their own name around the top.

Dan Matthews from Aumann Auctions emailed the following info to me:
It is a fantasy piece made by David Lane. He made the same sign for Kyle Moore that says Moore’s Gasoline.
Thanks Dan

It looks like the airplane and car from Ace High. And the logo in the middle looks like the Kunz oil logo. Neat sign even though its a fantasy. Nels
