Looking at a Gilbarco air meter with a pedestal, I believe am2 model. It's been 'restored' with red rattle can and face plate replaced. Has tank pressure through it, does not adjust the pressure. Any help on what a fair price would be? I know these are fairly rare but he wants $1600

He's asking about retail on it, but without a picture, its very hard to help with values on something. Try and post a picture if asking for help with values please.

I have owned a number of these over the years. I have bought them for resale, not to restore because there are no parts available to rebuild the mechanism.

I look an any air meter as unrestored. When someone is selling a air meter and they state "restored" they usually say afterwards,
Some chips,
I don't know if it works
Etc.

So if the above is true, and you want a nice restoration, it doesn't matter how nice it looks, you will need to sandblast, paint, etc. to have a nice restoration.

So looking at the pics above I will say, it look nice if you just want something to show what used to be used to fill tires. The hose is a little funky, they didn't have blue hoses on them.

For a display piece, the price is right.

Buy the way, the pedestal is worth more than the head.
