IS THAT A SERIOUS PRICE ON THAT PUMP? I know that I need new glasses but it looked rusty and unrestored. Twenty-nine thousand seems a little steep or do these things really go for that much???? ( especially unrestored)Someone clue in the clueless - please

At Columbus and Des Moines last year I talked to a lot of people about my book. The main question I asked them was "Did they think the values we put on the pumps were realiastic? Most people thought they were fair, but some people who really were into pumps thought the older pumps were a little undervalued and some of the newer pumps were a little overvalued.
One person said he felt the prices on pages 318 & 319 were way undervalued.
We valued the pump in this auction at $10,000. I guess that may be a low value, but is the true price $29,000? I guess the bidders will let us know.

I don't know anything about pumps but I'd guess Jack's book price is closer to actual value than the asking price. For 29K you'd think the guy would post some decent pictures. Just my 2 cents.

Demand and rarity for a single 800 pump is in the $5-6,000 range unrestored. But any twin will comand a triple price of a single [Tok 850 $12-1600, Twin 850 $5-7000 unrestored].
I heard, at one time HE turned down $30,000 for this pump.

Hey Dick Here is your chance to own it. It's only money. A little steep for me. I like to eat. Ted

Well, I'll put in my 3 cents again. I don't know what it makes the rest of you feel like when you look at this pump, but I get all warm and fuzzy. I do know I wouldn't pay $5,000 for a mint Musgo Sign, never mind $20,000, but I'd buy this pump in a hearbeat. Like someone said earlier, you're not paying too much you're just buying it early. Hey Dick, with that other half a casting you could make a real cool triple display case out of this one

Lance,
Your right, BUT I don't have any 800 heads YET !!
I've got 1/2 of a base & under head casting for a twin and a globe holder casting.
HELP ME, I NEED MORE PARTS

Ted,
IF I sold ALL of my Bowser's [25+], I still would have to barrow money from Dwaine.
Dick
