I've received a challenge on the vintage authenticity of my Capco globe rings and need some input from others who've been in this "business" longer.

The basis for the challenge is that reproduction Capco's flex more than the originals. Appearantly the repos, while they may have all the manufacturing/patent info reverse imbossed on them, I'm being told that each halve will flex or twist up to a couple inches and the original production halves will flex/twist only about an inch.

Does this make sense to anyone?

I purchased these Capco's in good faith at an estate sale of a large collector, but cant actually verify their age.

I've heard the very very early Capco's have a full lip on the top of only one of the halves, and that the symetrical lip came in later production. But this flex/twist thing is new to me.

I've noticed that the repos flex more than originals. Also, some, but not all, repos have a locating tab for the lens at the three o'clock position but not at the nine o'clock. That is, if you are looking at an assembled pair.
