Hi all;
How's everyone tonight ? I have some questions about Texaco Fire Chief signs. Right now I have no signs in my collection, just cans. I'm looking to get into signs, but I don't have a lot of money or the room for big signs. I've been looking at the Texaco Fire Chief signs that are 18"X12". I think they'er pump signs. I've found a number of them on ebay.I have two ebay item numbers, 7177345465 and 7177366725. Sorry I don't know how to do a link to a ebay page. How would I know if I'm looking at a repo or the real thing ? And I see that they seem to be going for about $50 to $80, is this about right ? I thought this would be a good sign to start with. I just found this Sky Chief sign on ebay, item number 7177238159. Is it real ?
Thanks a lot.

Dave

Dave,

I have an extra original fire chief pump sign in great condition. I paid 90 bucks for it on ebay. If you want it drive up to Solvang. That's what it would cost you by the time you paid shipping on ebay, plus you can look at it and know it's not a fake (which many of these are).

Dave:

All the signs you mentioned are the real deal. If you see a black T in the logo, that would be a fake. You might want to take poor man up on his offer. He can explain about dates & manufacture, trade mark, the dash on the older fire-chief signs, colors, placement and number of the grommets etc.. It would be easy for him to tell you the differences in person. Hope this helps ???

Thank all. I'm learning something every time I come to this site.
Curt, I think I may take you up on your offer. I'll call you, I think I have your number.
I'm going to take a good look at the ones on ebay to see if I can spot any fakes.
Thanks again.
