Hi All. Long ago I purchased a Standard oil lubester lid, but it is too big for my lubester restoration, so put it away and forgot about it.
It is iron - does that mean it is definitely original? This is the 6 1/2 inch type that says Standard Oil Company Indiana, with the torch and the word "Service". Are these worth holding on to or if I sell it what would that be worth?

Does it have a Round Hole for locking pin? = BENNETT.
Or does it have a slotted hole for locking pin? = Gilbert & Barker.
Gilbert & Barker's have better detail in torch than the Bennett's.

It has a round hole for the locking pin. The torch is a flat raised outline, with no internal detail. On the back there is a raised casting number BP515 and a Stamped "E"
Does that make it a Bennett?

Also, there is what looks like some casting spillover between the P and A in "Company".

99% positive you have a Bennett w/o a picture.
Bennett didn't have the details like G&B.
Sandblast, paint & hang on wall till ya need it.

Your Cast Iron lid is worth more than this Repop Cast Alum. lid;

They usually bring around $60 on ebay. They look great all painted up and hanging on the wall!!

That looks really great. Is it hand painted? Is the detail on the torch in the casting, or is it painted, and what did you use for a model?

Hand painted by a local talent. She used her own ideas and an old sign for design ideas. Cost about $100 to have it hand painted but shes pretty good.

Kevin's lid should have vertical lines where the cross hatch is.

Sweet lids. I need one for my lubester.
