If you find one in that condition for 2 grand, Please find 2 because it's been a long time since I've seen one that displays that good sell that cheap.
A SSP one just like that in worse shape sold at Matthews auction at Iowa Gas for $4250.00 plus buyers fees.

I can't see that sign in that condition bringing that,
just because somebody paid that doesn't mean that is the value of sign in question..

I at one time offered this one for 1800 on old gas and had no takers

Mathews gets paid very well and he draws in very big crowds. You are going to pay big dollars for anything that sells at his auction

But still looking for this sign

It's one I dont have and every time I have tried to get one they sell for or somebody wants 3 grand or higher. I must always be in the wrong place!

It should be noted that the sign Dan sold at Iowa was an original porcelain neon sign face. A more valuable sign than the standard porcelain version shown here.

I will still agree with you Mike that is hard to buy a presentable Super Service under $3k, and if you want a real nice one it's more like $4 or $5k or more. As with everything, condition will dramatically affect price, but this is an iconic sign that always demands a premium. Good luck to both of you in your quests.
