This might sound like a goofy question but, what is the M&E tag for(like the pictured here on my Hays door). I have asked a couple people and no one has been able to tell me so, I come to the pros.

I have seen that tag on alot of pumps I have gotten out of IL. I just assumed it was from a company that rebuilt the pump. Or it could have been a property tag from the company that owned it. I do not know that for a fact but it would have to be one or the other.

It was Standard Oil's way of keeping track of the maintence done on the pump. Each pump was given a unique number.

Ron, Thanks for the reply. Do you reproduce the top with ears for this pump? I have been waiting for about 6 months for Vic's and have called about 8 times and every time they don't have the top. The rest of the pump has been done for 6 months and still no top.

I have four Hayes or Wichita pumps and all of them were the style without the ears. If you can get someone to loan you one send it my way. I won't make it out of aluminum but cast iron as was the original.
