One thing I've come to notice when looking at these signs, and so far I believe it to be true, is that on the authentice ones, the border line runs parallel to the edge as it runs through the corners and the corner radius is a little larger. It seems on all the fake cheap ones the border will not run parallel and the edge radius is tighter. See first pic.

Also it seems the real ones never have grommets. Is that a true/blanket statement?

But my real reason for posting this is, in the larger pic below, which sure seems to be a real sign, my question is why is there no date in the lower right corner. It seems these signs are always dated. The lower left has the typical looking marking and reads "AD 5215". I see no reason not to believe that this sign is real. So my questions is, do you think the lack of a date makes the sign older or more recent than the more typical dated ones?
Any thoughts greatly appreciated?

Steve,
I have always relied on the radius trick, and until I hear or see something differently. The originals have a radius the size of a quarter, and the repros have a radius the size of a dime. Don't know about the grommet question, but all of mine do not have grommets.

I may be wrong but I was thinking that there was some debate a while back about a few originals having grommets.
