I have a Tokheim 39 short and would like to make it operate. I want the spinner to work, the computer numbers working, and the bell all to operate when the nozzle trigger is squeezed. I have searched for this info but cannot find it. Any info or instructions would be great. Thanks!

Easiest way is to have a closed loop system. Other than that you'll have to add motors & swt to each item.

Does anybody know resources to find out about a closed loop system? Also does anybody know if the top of a tokheim 39 totally square (even on all sides) Thanks.

The top of a 39 is not even or square on all sides. front and back are completely different than the sides. Closed loop system will work as long as your pump still has suction power (not all dried out and seizing. Not hard to figure out . Turn it on and listen for the check valves and piston popping. With it running place the palm of your hand in the bottom of the suction pipe and feel for suction. If the pump is too far gone and not pumping then it will need rebuilding by a pro.

I don't know how original you are wanting to keep your pump, as far as internals go, but most people that do what you are asking about do it with a small recirculating pump system and an electric gear motor to turn the vr. There was a thread on here a while back on this and link to a you tube video of a working conversion. You could search the archives. A buddy of mine built a small tank and used a fountain pump in it to recirculate orange antifreeze through the sight glass manifold when you lift the switch plate in the nozzle holder on the pump. The same switch started his gear motor that turned the computer so it all looks like its pumping gas. You can even go as far as running wires through the hose to the nozzle and wire a micro switch in the handle to start it when you squeeze the handle. It all depends on how close to actual operation you want it to be......GB
