Anyone that wants to ask/reply to questions should fill out their profile form completly, including their email address. Some times I would rather email OR send pictures direct than to post a reply, and wait for that user to email me for a picture/ reply. Dick

For such a large site, shouldn't paint codes be listed? Reference pictures? I have never had a question answered from all of you pros. I did buy Jack's book (He assured me there would be reference to my pump). Of course there was none. I have accquired stacks of books with redundent info. I'm pretty disgusted. Scobie & Vic's give great service, but this large sight has about enough useable knowledge to "maybe" step into an open manhole cover. Just being honest, I'm sure I'm not alone.

bikesavage, The subject of paint codes comes up all the time. You can search this web site for previous posts on the topic. I believe what you need is a fleet paint code manual. Check the previous posts to make sure. Not too many pros participate here. Just a bunch of collectors trying to help each other when they can. I've found this group to be eager to help a fellow collector. If you have a problem with Jack about his book, you should take it up with him privately. Several pump collectors have told me Jack's book is great. Not every pump is going to be in any book. I do agree that many of the picture price guides about petroliana don't contain much useful info. They just give you an idea of whats out there. The best way to gain knowledge about our hobby is to go to the petro shows and talk with other collectors. This site makes communicating with fellow collectors quite easy, without the investment of the time and money going to shows requires. While you may not be alone in yours views of this site, you're definitely in the minority. Bob

I totally agree with Bob's reply to "Bikesavage's" comments... This forum is open, honest, free and easy..a place for fellow collectors to interact with their peers.. If help is available.. you will get it.. you seem to believe that you deserve more.. Lighten up!! If you must have instant gratification.. pay for it!

p.s. Thanks for the book Jack.. It is a great addition, and just another source of information for our petroliana questions and research.

I may get jumped on for saying this, but it is my experience with Jack. Over a period of a year I sent numerous emails(at least 6) to him attempting to find literature on a Ben. 541. Not once did he respond to me, not with a yes I have or no I don't. Now I have heard him say he gets xamount of emails per day, and can't answer them all right away. But come on, if you have a potential custumer you could at least respond at some point. I finally just gave up trying. Then one day I lucked up and found the brochure I was looking for on ebay, and guess who tried to outbid me on it, good ole Jack. Man did that piss me off. Anyways I won it. I missed the post where Dwaine blasted Jack, and don't know the full story, but if Jack did things in a similar fashion, then maybe not all the fault should rest on Dwaines shoulders. Just a thought.

Well, I think I have heard enough of this topic! People coming to this website and this is the first topic they see ... how disappointing. We all know about Jack and Jack isn't the only one with literature on pumps. I agree with supertest on people trying to sell a book or part to a pump can e-mail them directly if they have left a e-mail address in there profile. Let's get back to the fun of the hobby here guys. Jack has a great book but there are other books and magazines out there that to me are just as good or better. The book is just another piece of information useful to the pump collector. Let's use these books to help a possible collector and tell them where the information came from then if they want to buy the book or books they can. Not everyone that comes to this site is a collector but maybe has 1 pump they want to restore and just need a little help. That is how I got started!
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.
