Hey everyone,

I am priming my 30 gal. lubester and getting ready to paint it this weekend. It will sit along side my restored
" Wayne Boyle Dayton #83 " pump ( Gilmore paint Scheme ) that I posted photos of last year.

Suddenly I realized I had not done enough research to keep going. The only photo that I've found is in the " Gas Stations " book by Henderson & Benjamin. It is on page #22 showing a Gilmore station out side of L. A., California.

Appears as though the triangle area is in the cream ( off white color ) and the rest of the base as well as the pump is in red. That's my guess anyway. ( photo is in balck & white . )

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sincerely,

F. John

Don't know if these pictures are any help but these are some NICE Gilmore lubsters as found at the Justice Brothers museum in San Dimas.

Thanks for the photos.
I found two others in the archives.

One by Milt Larson http://www.oldgas.com/shoptalk/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000568.html

The other at the Gilmore Staion at Farmers market in L. A. http://www.oldgas.com/shoptalk/ubb/Forum4/HTML/000481.html

Think I have enough information to fake it.
If anyone else finds any info, please post.

Finally got this little guy done. After reading the last messages on lubesters, I realized I probably paid to much
for this one at $50.00.
It is really basic with no glass cylinder, no brand name, sign, or drain back tube. I hadn't found any cheaper, but this is the Central California coast. Things tend to cost more here.

Hope the photos come through, and I did the posting correctly.

Looks kinda close to the one I had the photo of.

You did not pay too much IMO..looks pretty straight. That in itself can save you 50.00 in bodywork!

After you had a few you tend to not want to pay as much for them, sort of like pumps. I think most on here are telling what they like to pay, which may be different from what others pay.

BTW nice job on the Gilmore stuff, lubester looks really nice..

Thanks very much for the compliments.
I am very much a beginner at this.

I'm still using Rustolium paint, clear finish, etc,

I paid $150.00 for my first lubester and it was junk compared to the ones I've gotten for 5 bucks since then so don't kick yourself. I'll have to buy a lot of five dollar lubesters to absorb the cost of the one I overpaid for.

Yours turned out nice, that's all that matters at this point!
