Hi gas station entheusiasts,

A wonderful and creative friend of mine is considering buying an old art moderne esso station and turning into her home. The building has houses many businesses since the original gas station. The interior has been re-done and the tanks have been removed, but the exterior still looks like the original with the porcilin tile siding, the curved glass block end and horizontal chrome at the top. Do you know of any similar gas stations that have been turned into homes? It is a corner station in an urban city. Do you know the locations or do you have links to pictures?

Thanks for any information.
Suzanne

There was a show on HGTV or Discovery a year or so ago that featured a home that had been a gas station. They retained the exterior details and even had signs and a pump outside. The interior still used some of the gas station features and could be described as "urban chic" architecture.

Common, guys! Don't any of you have a picture of an old Esso or other gas station that has been renovated into a house? It's such a cool idea, someone must have already done it!

Suzanne, come on, we're mostly guys on this site, have you EVER seen a guy just rush into anything!? (OK, 50% divorce rate not withstanding). This is a group of highly educated (yeah, right!!), thoughtful ( to a point), intelligent (don't push it!) careful (except for Jarvis around globes but that's another story) guys that thinks thing out. If & when one of us comes up with something, you'll be the first to know!
