OK, I have been a member for years and restored maybe 20 pumps myself. I am not one of the regulars who is on here all the time. Yesterday I acquired this. I think it is a gas station related sign pole. But I thought I would ask you guys.
This thing measured 11 feet 2 inches from flange to tip. Its a 16 base flange and the fat end of the tapered portion is 10 inches. Its narrows to 5 inches.
Now I have a visible pump that was once restored and I will do so again. I have recently moved to Idaho and want an island and am wondering if this will look good on it. And if it will what kind of sign or light could I use on it? And there are not that many signs available around here, so what could I use?
any ideas.

I would cut the top off flush and weld 6x6 1/2 thick plate in it so you can install a 4" sch 80 pipe in it to your desired height and make it a swinging style post of your desired brand . I took two wagon wheel hoops and made my HC hanger . A Little heavy and overbuilt but was super cheap . Go to farm auctions , scrap yards etc , to buy your materials . Thats a GREAT idea and just what I needed for inspiration. I also already own this for the whole thing to come together. And I have a rancher friend with lots of metal junk that I may be able to score for the ornate portion. I am a huge DODGE/ CHRYSLER PLYMOUTH guy so this will go atop. Its a 42 across two sided sign and will go perfectly. Thanks for the inspiration, any other ideas out there? Dave

I have a question, how did you manage to get the rebar perfectly round. did you heat it up or use some sort of tool? Dave

I have a question, how did you manage to get the rebar perfectly round. did you heat it up or use some sort of tool? Dave . Dave It is 3/8 rebar and I rolled it on a oxygen cylinder , no heating required . It also helps support the horizontal pipe that the sign swings on .
I like SINCLAIR and old American made stuff ... No china items.
