I am ready to see the video, but that may take a while. Are you still planning on doing what we discussed?
Looks like you are making good progress.
I want to see the globe on top, lit up.
Joe

First Post... Been watching this site for
a couple years now...
I have 2 Bennett 700 series pumps that I'm going to finally get around to restoring this summer... My questions are for Mr. Bill
What are you using to coat the inside of this pump... and why...
I was just going to paint the inside the same as the outside...
Looking good! Can't wait to see the finished
pump!
Great site...

Welcome aboard Sinclair. I know that your question was directed to MrBill, but, I thought that I would offer my answer as well. I paint the inner skins white. This adds just a bit of detail, as well as making it easier to see inside. Typicly, the inner skins would be primered, with a bit of overspray. Here is a link to a pump restoration that I did a while back. It explains a low cost restoration. If you prefer to go with a higher quality procedure, than what I have done, feel free to do so. But I think that you might find a few good ideas here. http://www.oldgas.com/shoptalk/ubb/Forum4/HTML/001409.html

Thanks for posting that....
I'm doing some art work as a trade off
for having the pumps painted
(Sinclair of course) I'm going to have the frame and base powder coated.
The base black and the frame grey.
One is going to be the white/green HC
the other is going to be white/red
Sinclair with ethyl(To be honest I've had the lenses and decals from Scotty's Garage stored for so long I can't recall the design...
Anyway... I'm doing these in Sinclair since Sinclair was the staion on the edge of town that you could fuel up and head to the town with a theater and McDonalds then cruise for girls...
But any help, hints on colors, types of paint would be appreciated.. I want to do these as if they rolled of the line... No
over doing them. I don't don't mind
fantacy globes but I don't want to over do them with pin striping etc.
And I do what to make the numbers roll on the Meter.... Someone did that with their Bennett and I feel that is a must on a pump
if it can be done... That is a great option
and I feel raises the worth on a pump.
Again site thank you in advance for any and
all help!

Thunder II, why you little rascal!!! That’s a very nice restoration! Looks hot!!! D.B. so, you like the GLOBE HOLDER?? Teri didn’t say much last night! LOL! Joe, yes I’m stilling planning on doing what we talked about, it will be awhile before I get to it. I’m trying to finish the pump before I go in the hospital for the knee replacement on April 2. I’m hoping by June I will be back in the garage, I have six Columbia 2-speed axles to rebuild for waiting customers fortunately for me there cars are been restored and they don’t need the rear-ends for a couple of months so that worked out perfect.

I have promised my wife for Christmas I would finish her 1956 Austin Healey and I need to get back on my 29 roadster, so much to do and I’m not getting any younger. I still enjoy the challenge but it seems like its more work then it used to be…..

tx_oil you guys make me LOL!!!! I have tears in my eyes!!! IKEA piece love it.

SinclairHC, welcome aboard I also am a new be!! The guys here make you feel right at home. To answer your questions, I’m using Dupil-Color undercoat. It goes on very easy and covers any imperfections you may see it’s not thick and the best part is that it’s paintable any color you like. Why do I paint the pump inside?? Well I’ll tell ya.. because I like things finished off, just because the inside is behind closed doors and you can’t see It doesn’t mean it should be left that way and there is always that person who will ask what’s it look like inside ?? And think of the money you will save on paint at $80.00 Dollars a quart...wow!! Save where you can plus painting the inside off sets things a change of contrast… All and all it makes no difference if you paint the inside or not, it’s just me I can’t seem to leave things alone.

Z, thanks for the kind words you are right on… that Richfield Ethyl globe is bad *** !
Bill
