I have found a Tokheim 39, all is in good shape except for one door. How hard would it be to find a good door, And what would I expect to pay for one?

Trip - just out of curiosity....what kind of door do you need? 39Tall? 39 Short?
with or without ad glass???

Well I don't have it yet, I wanted to see how much a door would cost first. He wants $225 for the pump, the rest is in good shape. I think it is a short,(what is the diff. in height?) And not sure about the ad glass. Don't know much do I?

Trip - I guess you haven't eye-balled this baby yet? The older 39's were taller and had ad glass in the top of the door above the face plate window.It was about 6' tall w/o the globe. The shorter 39's came with add glass below the face plate window in the own opening. some do not have the add glass. A good price on a 39 door could vary. $50+/- w/o add window, $60+/-
w/ad window...ask if one you are buying
is straight, solid, has any rust holes, etc.
Seth at Vic's should be in after Tuesday.
He probably could connect you with a door. He might be able to hook you up with someone if he can't find one.

I called Vics yesterday to check on prices on doors. $150 , little too steep for me. This is why im checking before I buy. If you know of another place that sells used doors I would apreciate the info. Thanks for all the help.

Trip - If there is no rush in your resto job, keep and eyeball every 5 or so days on ebay. I got 3 M&S 80 doors from ebay and
at the time I didn't need them. Traded one recently for some welding work and used
another clean one in my current Mobilgas Special script top resto. Good luck and seriously try Ebay. Type in Tokheim Door
or Just Tokheim then save the search in your favorites in your "my Ebay" this way you don't have to type in tokheim or door.
Just go to your favorites and click on the
subject and it will search. Maybe you know this already. Will keep my eyes open also. carry on brother!

Hey thanks, Im not in any hurry to get it done, and I was kinda thinking on the same order, buy it and keep looking for parts. Im hesitant about not buying it because it is so hard to find these anymore. Do you think $225 is ok for one , no rust, and all straight but the one door? Also there is a plate over the top instead of a globe ring. But if I get it and redo it I will put a globe on.

I had a 39 door with ad glass in nice shape I just sold for $25.00. You should be able to find one in that price range. Watch Ebay.

Trip - I paid $400 for a TOK39 10 years ago. It was clean and fairly easy resto. It's on my Xmas card in Showcase 12-22-03.
So consider what I paid for mine and what it'll take to get another door $75-100
for a nice one I figure. That's including S&H. What brand are ya planning on doing it up as??? inquiring minds want to know!!!

I sure hope I can find A good deal on a door like that. I will keep looking on E-Bay. As for brand of pump im not sure, I like "Fire Chief" but I have an old Wayne 70 that used to be my grandfathers at one of his gas stations that i am going to do it in. I was thinking on this one, maybe "Shell" . What do you think.

So what are the best looking pumps done in anyway while we are on the topic? I kinda like the brighter colored ones. Anyone else who reads this too I would like everyones opinion on favorites.

I guess The texaco fire chief would look dope on a Wayne 70....so do it up. As for the Tok39...Shell sounds great...do it in whatever flavor you want. I've never been a big SHELL fan signs or pumps....my faves are Tydol (& flying A) and Mobil. I am currently doing the script top which should be red with white doors. After that
I'm gonna do a plain M&S 80 in Lion only because i have one of those huge 6' Porc signs that was found outside a Memphis junkyard about 7 years ago....18 of them
welded togther outside the fence. Just goes to show you that it sometimes pays to drive through a not so good section of town, where crime, murder, and gas pumps lurk around every corner! I have ten pumps currently. I've had more and seems every body wants one in it's natural unrestored condition to put in their yard or by the garage. I looked at a TOK39
last week, and for the price of that door at
Vic's 66! $150! But every side of that pump was hurtin with metal stress. If you want the guys number I'll throw it your way. (???)

His name is Lanning Baron...lives not too far from me, His number Is (516) 783-9159. Let me know what he says if you jingle 'im. and ask him if the hinges could be included after he prices you the door. Even if you don't need them it's aways nice to have them as extras.
