Are you using NEW hose?
If not that may be your problem.
Also you should use a 10ft hose on a tall pump
14-18' on a short and there will still be hose that extends past the frame of the pump......
Remember these things were meant to do WORK, also to look good,
but normally the hose extended past the front and back of the pump. The way you want the hose and the way it would have been may be two different things.
One way to soften a NEW hose is with heat.Hang it over something in the sun, then cool in that position.....spray it w/ cold water
