I had Fed-x ship a Vess double bubble clock and when it was delivered it was shattered. The clock was bubble wrapped and in peaunts and it had to be dropped to shatter it. Now they do no want to pay. It was insured, any help thanks Doc

Was it double boxed? If not, they probably will not pay, any fragile and glass stuff is supposed to be double boxed, so they say. I had to fight for a year once to get a claim paid, but they finally paid. Good luck.

I wonder if that ever happened to any of TED KAZINSKY's packages. If it did I bet that guy didn't drop another one...lol

Had the same problem with Fed ex. Changed from UPS whom damaged over 60% of my incoming shipments. Fed ex took my money for shipping and insurance money for the amount I insured it for. Broke open a wooden crate and the porcelain sign slid out and was bent. They put it back in and sent to buyer who thought that I shipped it to him that way. They would not pay more than $100.00 for they said in the fine print that they do not insure collectables or antiques over $100. I asked why they took my money then on over 60 packages I sent all were antique. Have still not got money from them.

I got screwed over by UPS about 7 or 8 years ago on a Pepsi double bubble. the guy made a wooden crate and lined it with styrofoam. Came broken-guy from ups came to the house to look at it and said "tough luck buddy". I was out 450.00 plus shipping and insurance and all the extra bs. I still cant stand ups. lol
Eventually if we keep sending collectables back and forth across the country through the mail there wont be anything left!

Years ago I asked a shipping clerk at Fedex if there were any tricks to keep my stuff from being broken. His response was to package everything to withstand a drop from 3 feet. When packages are being transfered from truck to truck, conveyor to conveyor or truck to conveyor not everything is lined up and the packages are going to fall and take a hit. I take extra care to package certain items and the buyer does not mind paying a few extra bucks for this. I will also request an item to be packaged this way when I am buying. I don't mind paying a few extra bucks to reduce the odds of breakage. I recently sent a Standard Crown to a guy . I wrapped the globe in bubble wrap, put it in a box, filled the box and the inside of the globe with peanuts. I than put that box in a larger box and than filled the gap between the larger box and the smaller box with 5/8" thick pink sheet insulation from the Home Depot. I charged the guy 25.00 to do this. The globe arrived safe. He didn't mind paying, as two previous crowns he received had been broken in shipping. Richard
