when storing spare lenses in a box .. that are wrapped in their individual standard brown cardboard type paper ... is it better, safer or whatever to place them concave/center of face down or with the face up ..
is it logical to assume .. that similar would apply to shipping same, except with lots of bubble stuff for insulation
thanks a bunch

First off don't use the cardboard or textured brown paper. That stuff leaves marks on lenses when stored for a long period of time. Something in it reacts with the paint. Place the lenses face up with the outside edge carrying the load. Don't stack too many in one pile. The weight from the lenses themselves can break the bottom lenses if you stack them too high.

...what happens with the brown paper is, humidity in the air adds just enough moisture to the paper over time to cause it to leach acids found in non-archival, pulp paper...that's why archival paper is most often made from cotton...anyway, the acid etches the glass and ruins the inserts...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
