About this time of year, it seems I start to get the itch. The last of the summer show schedule has ended a few months earlier, all the cool new buys are not as new (but still cool) and the itch for a really good quart can or pump sign has been naggin' for awhile. I thought I would just throw out an idea to beef up the Columbia show. Everyone who is planning on attending, if you would dig into the collection and maybe find an extra piece or two that you have been hedging on parting with, go ahead bring it along. Would love to have some replies as to what everyone would like to see at this show. I would love to see some really nice quarts and pump signs. Lets hear what the rest of you are looking for. Maybe we can pull some stuff that otherwise might not be there....

If you plan on bringing some items to sell you better plan on paying for a spot as a vendor or youll get hammered on by certain people. That seems to go for items presold and the buyer would like to LOOK at something else you have to possibly purchase.Nice show,it definately seems to be getting smaller though?????????

I posted it in the For Sale and Wanted column, but I'm going to Columbia and would be interested in M&S 80 pump sheet metal and a tall base.

I agree about the space. I have my spot reserved and was throwing out this idea mainly for other dealers that are setting up and for buyers coming that may be wanting something in particular. It would be nice to scare up some extra goodies at this show that might not otherwise show up. I have had alot of inquiries at past shows for a certain item or brand name....always seems like it was one of the peices I was gonna bring but left at home. Maybe this website could be used as an excellent way to improving shows. If buyers and vendors could put out the word before hand, we may all get more of the items we are looking for. Hey, what could be wrong with that???

smaller??? We have 135 spaces in the room. Last year we had sold 106 when the swap was over. This year we have sold 110 before we open the doors. We have NO PROBLEM with someone meeting someone with a new treasure to save the shipping or insure the item arrives in one piece. We have no problem with a spectator trying to trade an item to a vendor but what we ( and a lot more show promoters that contacted us privately!! ) have a problem with is people selling items in the parking lot and not purchasing a space. We try to not have a lot of rules but someone always wants to make their own rules.

I like going to the show also, its close and there is always some good items to be bought.Just seemes smaller? Seemed like there was people setting up in the back room a few years ago.Maybe thats because the auction took up some room???Anyway still a good show,I will be coming as a buyer.I tell on an average of 10 people a year about the show that would have never known about it.

I always seem to find stuff for my collection at It's A Gas in Columbia. I'm not a vendor this year because I have to work Friday, but I'll be a buyer on Saturday.
I'll be looking for old body shop items like early auto paint signs and cans, and for Zephyr Gas, J.D. Streett items. Plus I'll watch for Buick, Bardahl and Bear Alinement items I don't have.
It would really make my day to find a Zephyr sign, a Zephyr Supreme Ethyl globe or a red ripple globe body (even repro).

Chadrock, thanks for bringing some quarts. I will have 3 tables with 100-200 quarts. Jim, I almost forgot but packed some gas stamp books from Zephyr for you when I saw your post. I bought them awhile ago with you in mind. I don't have any shakers or globes for you Jarvis but would throw (or gently set)them in if I did. See you all there.
