Hi All  I found this Sinclair Refining Oil Bottle. Is this a salemans sample bottle and what kind of oil is #2 Pffe? I could not find out anything on the internet that could tell what (#2 Pffe) oil is. I will be putting it on Ebay if anybody is interested. Thanks Randy

I'm not sure what #2 pffe is - it looks to be a #2 diesel/fuel/kerosene middle distillate cut from a crude unit, but without more info, it's impossible to tell. Different producers use different names for their intermediate products, even depending on which processing unit it came from.
I'd be reaaaaaaal careful about shipping that bottle filled with any kind of hydrocarbon... I can tell you right now that that product will be classified as Level 1 hazardous (Flammable), possibly a toxin too - and that container (a sample bottle for the lab, unlikely a sales sample) does not meet the current spec for shipping a hazardous material on any carrier in North America. With the current level of alert out there about such things, I simply would not recommend selling it to anyone without knowing exactly what is in the bottle, and I would never ship it - by any means...
Just my opinion - as a guy licensed to air-ship just about anything anywhere...

Likewise I agree with Silent Chief. I am one of the administrators of Northern Illinois Univ. One of the areas I am over is Environmental Health and Safety. We have similiar, maybe even tougher laws here in the states. Our safety dept has tons of paper work that has to be made out if a substance is radioactive, flammable, ect. We send packages everyday for professors. IF a package that you sent was flagged or caused a problem YOU would be liable for any damages. It is stated in all the UPS, FEDEX, USPS regulations they are NOT responsible and it is illegal to not claim it. Trust me working at a school with 30,000 students and 7,000 faculty.Just read the paper work and comply. I have often thought about the FULL oil containers that are offered. Technically they fall under this and if punctured could disrupt a business for hrs. AND you would pay. Your ins wouldn't touch it. I hope everyone that has full containers of whatever that are shipping read SILENT CHIEF and my post. One cannot believe the trouble a person can get into. Moral - empty the can even if it is mint.

Your bottle was used by salesmen in the field & also at bulk plants to show customers the differant products. Salesmen usually carried these in a hard briefcase.

I can't find #2 PFFE oil in any of my reference books. Closest I can find is it *may* be some sort of poly alkylated flourocarbon - poly-something-flouroethane - that may be an additive for an oil or grease.
Main point is, no matter what sort of container it's in, without knowing exactly what it is - it would be irresponsible to sell it to someone, and, as far as I can tell, illegal to ship by any means, as an unknown product, in the US and Canada.
The liability aspect is huge if something occurs. Sure, you could just sell it and ship it and not declare, pack it well, and chances are, nothing would happen.
This is just my opinion, I'm only trying to assist. I wouldn't want someone to inadvertently/innocently get themselves into a situation!

Thanks Bob, I guess I am too use to seeing my people ship real hazards and never thought about what your excellent "look up" of the rules stated. Makes me feel better especially about the oil. We get paranoid here about one of our containers breaking in shipment and the DOT HAZMAT/RCRA people going after us.
