This year my travel time is pretty limited so with that in mind I ask one question...If you could only make one of these two shows which would it be and why? Both shows are a 14-16 hr. drive from the house so distance is not an issue. Thanks, Art

Art, I've never been to Columbus. I've been to Iowa gas several times. The last time being 3 or 4 years ago. If you can't be there the first day of the show (or a day or two BEFORE the show) there's no sense going. My guess is Columbus is getting to be the same way. If I could go to one of those shows I think it would be Columbus. Everything I've heard about that show is positive. Bob

I have done Columbus for a lot of years. There are a lot of vendors and it is a very friendly show. I think it is one of the best.

I have attended both shows. They are both at the top level of petroliana events anywhere. If you can only do one, pick the one that works best for you as far as the date and distance from home. There is no bad choice. I prefer Iowa Gas. You could alternate years going to different ones each year. Click for some pictures I took at Iowa Gas 2003 . The sales of items prior to show opening or during dealer setup is a fact of life even at the smaller shows. I think the rule is the same at a garage sale. Get there early or miss out on stuff that gets taken early. I have always found great stuff at both these swap meets even though I don't get special priviledges and can't be everywhere when the event opens. If you can attend these events, you will see more great stuff at one time than you would all year poking around on your own. ------------------ Jim "Oldgas" PottsYour host and moderator

I set up at both shows and Columbus is the better of the two in my opinion. Ron
