If any of you are ever traveling thru or near the Quad Cities on I-80 like on your way to Iowa Gas, you HAVE to stop at Pat Quail's eatery called 'The Filling Station' on Brady street in Davenport, Iowa. It is only a couple miles off of the Interstate. Not only is the food excellent (great Chicago style pizza) but the scenery will blow you away. Don't forget your camera!! You will want to stay there and just soak up the sights. Dwaine, if you make the trip from California bring a designated driver because the Iowa State Patrol is REAL strict on the .08 law!!!

Trust me guys, I find any excuse I can to make the trip over there!!!

This place is like a museum. Signs just cover the walls. Visible pumps out front with a old truck. Popcorn from the popper served in old oil cans!!! And the best a Visible pump built into the bar with tappers out the side! All the items inside are one guys collection he leases to the restaraunt for a cut every month.Excellent food also. I am going to talk to Greg and Ron the promotors and see if maybe a bunch of us couldn't reserve the back room for eats and a major Bull session after setup on Saturday. Would anyone be interested??

On the west side of Lincoln Nebraska there is a place called:

Their restaraunt/store is filled with petroliana. They probably have about 30 gas pumps, including a tokheim 850, Wayne 492, Fry 117, Wayne 60, dayton 50, Hawyeye-Dart and more. There are alos a lot of signs and globes. Definitely worth the stop if you are ever heading through Lincoln.

Hey Everybody

My name is Greg Aust, my father Ron and I, are the organizers of the Mississippi Valley Gas and Advertising show to be held May 18, 2003 in Davenport. For those of you who would like to get together for some good food, drink and conversation we plan on meeting at the Filling Station on Saturday May 17th around 6:30 PM. One of the best restaurants for the Petroleum Enthusiast has to be the Filling Station Restaurant and Bar. Established in 1971 its name says it all. For the enthusiast with an appetite for good food and great scenery, The Filling Station is an ideal place to eat, drink and admire the huge collection of Petroleum memorabilia. The food ranges from sandwiches, salads, burgers, pizza and Mexican. The Filling Station is located on 35th street just off of Brady Street in Davenport.
