There is a lot of discussion about what paint to use. Ultimately use what you feel most comforatable with. No matter what you use, if your technique is correct, the pump will turn out beautiful. Personally I think the base/clear for a solid, non-metallic color is a waste of time and material. If you want high tech and durability with a solid color, use a single stage urethane. As said earlier, getting the tech sheet for the paint system you are going to use is an excellent idea.
