Hello, i have a pump question, i have purchased a tokheim 36b, i have seached for pumps like this one but have not found one like mine it does not have a visible fuel glass but has the hole but is covered up with a pure logo made to cover the hole attached with two screws, also i forgot to mention it is a pure oil gas pump theme pump,and also need to find out what the deal is with my trim spears on the front and back, the spears are missing but you can see where they were but like most of these models they have a short spear a long spear and then another short spear, but mine is just 3 short spears, i was just wondering if it was a rare pump or what do i have?, thanks for your help

A picture would help but it sounds like you have one of the pumps made specially for a specific company. I know tokheim made pump specifically for texaco and I am sure others. As for the pure cover over the sight glass hole, I'm sure that was added later in the pumps life by pure oil.

The Pure panels were put on to cover the holes when the flow glass manifold was removed.

I have seen both variations of factory trim spears on 36B's, many more of the same size than longer middle spear. I have also seen dozens and dozens of pumps with the site glass blocked off, especially 700 series Bennetts that Sinclair used on the east coast. I have a couple now that have been blocked off. Brady

Pg. 281 of Jack's book, shows (6) Tok.36B pumps. Four have short spears, two have the longer center one. Obviously, they were made both ways.
As for the blocked off sight glass? If you were on a farm, or a commercial business with a gas pump, you wouldn't need a sight glass, so if the glass got broke, they'd just install a flat piece of metal to seal it off. The sight glass, was only there to give the paying customer the "Illusion" that he was getting what he paid for.

i appreciate the information yall have given me,also if yall could help with the model number on that unit,its 796507-5-38, does the last 3 numbers mean that it was may of 1938? and i am gonna try to get a pic on here so yall can tell about what it is worth to see if i got a good deal,again thanks for your help!
