Jim

i would only shoot him if he was so drunk he was trying to reach in my pants & pee with my willie.:)

first of all, i'm not picking on jim or trying to start an argument, just good ole commentary, but c'mon, i dont think the o.p. has a problem with a drunk in his bushes, it's someone violating his personal property & stealing his items. i wouldn't have a problem with a drunk wetting on the lawn, but when he finished, if he entered my locked, secured residence, i would pop a cap in him. again, i don't know if he's drunk, hopped up on meth etc. & is he here to steal something or rape & murder my wife, me, kids?? same with the original dirtbag on page one, yeah, he's a thief, but what will he do when he drops by for a "visit" & someone is there?? is he gonna back away & leave or come at you like a tasmanian devil (or in this case, ron jeremy on viagara)? just saying, you don't know who or what you are dealing with in today's society, so i'm not gonna take the gamble.

i also noticed (again not flaming jim , but will refer to his earlier post)in the earlier comment that the perpetrator is referred to as "him","he","son", "brother", & "friend" while the real victim in the situation is called "the big defender of property" & "tough SOB" if he protects his interests. sorry, but i don't agree with that being the "right prospective".seems that, just like we see in the court systems daily, that the roles get reversed to where the criminal is the victim & vice versa.

in today's society with all the nutbags running around, the main responsibilty falls on you. i'm not saying run around willy-nilly & shoot everyone you think is in the wrong, but i wouldn't solely depend on the police to take care of you. i have been trained & have taken classes on the proper use of deadly force & in the right circumstance wouldn't hesitate to do so. one of those being my locked secured residence. you just don't know what someone is capable of attempting.
back in june, i took the dog out one night at around 2am. heard a noise & while investigating, found a kid trying to break into my neighbors vehicles. no i didn't shoot him :), it wasn't on my property. i did call 911 & let them know "someone is breaking into my neighbors car right now" & went back out. he saw me & took off at a brisk walk until he noticed i was still following him & then broke & ran. i saw enough to i.d. the kid as someone who lives on the back street. the police showed up TWO DAYS LATER, filed a report & didn't even want to talk to me since it wasn't my car broken into, even though i saw him & could probably take them to his residence. the police don't care... i will say, if i catch that kid on this end of the street again, i will have a "heart to heart" talk with him & let him know what will happen if i catch him again.
