I ran across this on another forum. Searched here, but didn't see it discussed. Apparently ebay settled a class action lawsuit and you can get a check, albeit a small one, depending on how much you sold or bought.
Thought you guys who use it a lot might want to check it out.

Got a check for $27.36. I knew nothing about this until I got the check. It had something to do with final value fees on ebaymotors.

Seems to me that I remember receiving a letter from ebay about it some time ago but I haven't seen anything? Did this just get paid out lately here? I wonder how I would check on it?

Now you've got me all excited! My mail doesn't come until around 4 or 5 pm. I hope I get enough for a pizza and 2 beers! LOL

The mail just came and its HERE! I got a whole $5.82. I must not have sold a whole lot thru Ebay Motors! It'll be enough for 1 and 3/4 beers, so I guess I'll have to chip in for the second one! LOL

$3.17 for me...I got so excited that I was going to go to town and cash it, but then I realized it would cost more in gas for the round trip!

I don't think that it is much of a ding on Ebay. The total payout is $30 million. Ebay is worth 32 billion $$$. A big chunk of that I'm sure they will make it up in higher fees to sellers again shortly. Settlement was calculated as 6.6% of the final value fees charged each person during that certain 2005 to 2009 period. I got $33.78...thats up there...ha!

Dang, I got mine today and thought .16 cents was low. Lawyers are the reason this country is in this sue happy society now.

Thanks, Phil

more like lawyers are the result of a sue happy society when everyone thinks hot coffee burns or a scar on your finger are worth millions. I guess it's a chicken vs. the egg thing.

ebay is Banking on most seller's NOT CASHING most checks. They lost lawsuit but will win in the long run if you don't cash checks! Most checks are Void 6 months after written.

Wonder if you can return to ebay for Credit on your next billing?
Never mind, not worth postage, $.49.

i know i will get flamed for this, but i have to defend my profession. this is a good example of the reason courts have allowed class actions:
many people who claim that they were wronged in the same way by one defendant, typically a large corporation with huge resources. typically, the amount of harm is small so your average attorney is not going to accept the case and fight a stable of corporate attorneys. it would bury most law firms.
the plaintiffs attys do not get paid either way. they must win the case or achieve a settlement. also, the court must approve the settlement and attys fees.
yes, there are abuses. oddly the mcdonalds case isnt one of them. google it and you will see that the woman was not driving when the coffee spilled, she suffered 3rd degree burns, was hospitalized for 8 days, underwent skin grafts. she sought 20k from mcdonalds and they refused. it was proven mcd's kept the coffee at 180 degrees, they knew it would burn you, and had 700 burn complaints and did nothing.
sorry about the lack of caps, but had surgery today on my wrist, so this is one-handed. quite a challenge, right db? some caps/punctuation made with pencil in mouth to hit the shift key lol

Better than ALL CAPS [cause some are to LAZY w/ 2 good hands/wrist]!
I use to be able to type normally, except for using the left index finger now I have re-learned how to do most pecking w/ right hand only.

ANY Moron [male or female] that would put a hot cup of coffee THERE, deserves to be BURNED. Bet that wasn't the 1st cup she had bought there either & she knew how hot their coffee was!
