I've been looking for some pictures of a conoco station with the minuteman signs and am having a hard time finding anything. Can anybody tell me what years these signs were used? Or shoot me a picture of a station with one ? I'm curious on how theses signs were displayed considering they are double sided and only have one hole for mounting .

Continental Oil (CONOCO) built the West's first filling station in 1909. They merged with Marland Oil in 1929, so I would guess the Minuteman signs were used in those time periods. Conoco started using the Red, White and Green triangle after that and used it until 1948, when they changed to the Red and White triangle.

WOW!!! With all these Pics I'll never sleep!!!! After119 pages I've only found one sign!!! Are these signs that rare?

I found a website that gives the period of use of the Minuteman over the words CONOCO as 1919 to 1924.

They came in two sizes I know of;30" and the more scarce 26".Both those sizes suggest curb signs,particularly the 26".I've got a good hardback book over in the shop.I'll see if there are any Pics.

One of the most highly sought-after petroleum signs. Pretty hard to find in excellent condition, I think they made two sizes in this sign, 25" and 30" and use them as lolly pop signs in curb stands. But I could be wrong. Maybe some one else can chime in on these.
