Hi Guys. Newbie to gas pumps. My uncle has a Chevron Supreme Original Gas pump that he wants me to sell and I am trying to figure out it's valuation.

Here are some pictures.

I am not sure on mfc date. 40's - 50's I believe.
It's all original, except for the dome at the top which is a remake. It was completely refurbished a few years back.
I don't believe it actually works though.
There is 1 scratch at the bottom that I forgot to take a picture of, but otherwise in immaculate condition.

The plate on the side reads:
Golbarco Calco Meter
Model # 96C138L
Serial # H3930

I tried to find a reference for determing the year but could not find anything.

I did some research for resale on ebay and a few other places and it seems that most are remakes.
The originals seem to be fetching anywhere from 2500-5500.
Due to it's condition, I estimate it's worth around $4000-$6000. Am I close?

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have two of these pumps in a restored, but lesser condition. I am interested to see what the petrolana community rates it at. I feel mine is worth around 900 to 1500 a pice. But I am the least knowledgable guy to talk too. Good luck and it is a beautiful pump.

Should the background of the cost # be white and the number it's self be black? Thanks for posting so many pictures

I hate to break your bubble but if you want to buy these as originals, it shouldn't be too tough to buy a boatload of them for right around $500 each. I don't know where you're getting your figures from, but I'd love to get into that market!
People can ask whatever they want for an old pump but that doesn't mean its the correct value! They might even sell one, once in a while to an uninformed victim but the truth is that this is a fairly common pump and can readily be purchased in the wild for $350 to $650, with condition being the variable. After restoration, its rarely possible to retrieve your investment back from the pump unless you do it yourself and don't count your labor. Even as a restored unit, this pump would land in the $1000 to $1200 range.
I don't handle nearly as many pumps as some of the others on this site, but I'm around them enough to be fairly accurate. I go thru about 15 pumps per year.
Oh by the way, this pump was first made around 1938.

Jman, I would say Kevin is right on in the unrestored market price of 350.00 - 650.00. Here on the West coast a restored Gilbarco 96 pump would easily bring in the 1500.00 - 2500.00 range depending on brand of gasoline and quality of the restoration. Have a customer that sold 8 restored tall common pumps a couple of weeks ago at the Reno swap meet and all went for 2000.00 or better. But keep in mind like a restored car quality of the restoration is EVERYTHING and if these is a scratch, poor body & paint work or any damage the price goes down quickly!
