It really is some bad stuff....top layer came off within a couple days but there's a layer that's just been a real pain. I actually did try carb cleaner, and brake kleen and as potent as they are neither did the trick. Have one currently soaking is gas and one in era/water, I'll see how that works after a day or two...thanks guys!

Soak the glass in Oxiclean and water. Residue should melt right off.

I've had really good luck with "Super Clean" It comes in a puple, gallon jug. Wal-mart usually has it in Summer, some auto parts stores do as well. It was the second thing I found that will clean the brown gunge from old gas. The first was a degreaser that the local Safeway used in their meat department. Great engine cleaner as well.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the great suggestions....just as a followup for anyone interested, I used the two things I had close to hand---I soaked one in Era laundry detergent/water mixture, and soaked one in gasoline. Both suggestions worked beautuful! I don't know what they put in laundry soap, but must be more powerful than Napa parts cleaner. I had previously soaked them two weeks in Napa parts cleaner and that didn't take care of it entirely, only for a couple days in gas and Era. Thanks again...

Laundry detergent is a great De-greaser. I use Tide to clean the inside of my jet-ski at the end of every season. It makes it look like band new. That's a tip I picked up from a guy that details boats. He said that it makes dirty filthy bilges look like new, and adds a few hundred $$$ onto the value of a boat.
