We use UPS exclusively unless requested otherwise.
Now that's not because I don't like FedEx - it's because years ago our FedEx driver stole a package that was sent to our house about a week after he delivered something incorrectly and I called his boss about it.
I don't give my hard earned monet to people or companies that operate like that.
That being said: we ship hundereds of packages each year. Ninty percent of them are glass. In all the time I've been doing this, we have only had three packages destroyed by someone in the UPS chain of delivery.
One looked liked someone had rammed a piece of Rebar through the package. UPS paid the claim in total.
The second was a package that the delivery driver threw over a 6' privacy fence at the end of my customers driveway - 'cuz he couldn't get anybody to answer the call box. UPS paid the claim.
And the third one I have no idea what happened. It was an international shipment to Canada and it arrived broken. (Custom lenses too!) UPS paid that claim also but it was a bit of a hassel since it was an 'international' shipment.
BTW, we put at least one 'Fragile' sticker on each box of glass. IMHO, having the sticker on the box helps with a claim since all employees are required to be able to read! LOL The items still need to be adaquately packaged though.
Later . . .
