My buddy and I found this old National A1 pump (or whats left of it) left for dead. How rare are these pumps cant find much info or many pictures of them???

Desirable and scarce pump to find. Parts are even more difficult to find.

I took the picture of the A shown on page 219 of my Gas Pump book and it is quite a bit different that yours. I check the ID tag for the model, and it said A.
The one in the picture either had an outside sight or no sight at all.

The handle, do you mean the the nozzle? I have probably over 400 pieces of literature on nozzles, mostly ads and catalogs, but not one of them referrs to the nozzle as being a handle.

Jack, Your confusing the A w/ A1. Pump above is correctly ID as an A1.

It may be better to part that one out, it can be restored but it depends on how deep your pockets are.
