hey this thing is cool!! i can get newspapers(9 bucks a month,as opposed to 75 cents a day i spend now)and over 700,000 books.(course i probably read half of em)and...many of the books are FREE!!mostly oldies are free.gonna try it out tonight!!

Just Hope you let Maria & Steven use the Bathroom Before you take that in & start reading !

Here we go... S girl gave me a Kindle for Christmas. heres the funny part, I need a Wi-fi connection (which I dont have) to get started. I can however, use a 3G connection. Pffftttt! I'm so far out in the country, there is limited cell service. Now, I have to drive into town, just to get a 3G connection! This oughta be interesting.

Well... The Kindle this has been a nightmare of epic proportions.

First of all, it arrived with no instructions. It had a little card with it, but by no means could that be considered as instructions. It did have a link to a website, but that was an experience in and of itself.

I found the support website was diffucult to navigate. First of all, you have to identify the product. I found this difficult because A) the pictures were very small, and B) my product had no identifying "name" of any sort. There is a "Users guide" on this little thing, but do I even need to explain, that it took me four days, to learn how to use the little buttons on this thing?

I resorted to their "Discussion forum". It was there, that I found out, how to contact them. Luckily, they had a "Call me" option. The person who called, from Seattle Washington (thats right here in the United States, BTW) had a very distinct accent. Not that I'm opposed to this, but, EACH and EVERY one, of the callers, had the same accent...

The first caller, stated that I could not use the kindle, WITHOUT Wi-Fi. This, in my opinion, defeats the whole purpose of purchasing this little "wonder of modern technology..." I would have to live in town to have Wi-Fi, and if I lived in town, I could just trot my happy little self to the book store, to buy the book that I wanted! Silly me. LOL...

After getting through that painfull phone call, I decided to try again. Stupid, yes I know, but I REALLY wanted to get this book. The second caller, explained the Amazon page to me. Yet another difficult site I felt, but lets try this anyways. Countless attempts to find the book, were fruitless. Dont even get me started on their search function. Please bear in mind, that this all started, because I found a free kindle download, on the web. Although our combined efforts, did indeed find a copy of the book, it was not available as a Kindle download. When I asked, "How do I download this book then?" the answer was "I dont know". All of a sudden, I have an Image of Jeff Spicolli, in my head. "I dont know..."(Fast Times At Ridgemont High)

I then decided, that both Amazon, and their product, the "Kindle" were a waste of time, and an insult to my intelligence...

After yet another e-mail reply from them, I made the mistake of allowing them to "fix the problem"... This caller, who also had a heavy foreign accent, "tried to explain." Rather than answer my questions, he TOLD me how it is. When I asked about the 3-G network access, he replied, "You cant do that." Silly me, this little Kindle SAYS that I can! "NO" he said! I informed him, that I would be closing my Amazon account, keeping all of this interaction, as an instructional implement for my Customer reps, as how NOT to handle customer complaints, and I will be purchasing the book from SOMEBODY else, instead!

Thank God, for the good people, at Barnes & Noble!

Buy a iPad!!!!!

I'd really rather have the book in my hands. The Kindle was a gift from S-Girl.
