i appreciate all the input so far, and the pure sign photo is great, what stands out on this old sign (thru the faded and chipped paint over) is the blue porcelain and the white stars, as far as the location its not the original site of a gas station, the sign pole has been made out of different pieces, homemade to accomodate the mounting ring of the sign. and the manager of the place has no idea of where the sign/pole came from or who may have made it. if i get them to turn loose of it an afternoon of cleaning will solve this one- just thought with the stars in the porcelain someone might have an idea- might be something besides gas/oil ? ag related ? thank you all .
