Hello, I feel it is time to make an introduction. I have been in the hunting/gathering phase for about 60 of my almost 70 years, so I have seen many interesting things.Really took off in mid 1960's when I began buying pocket watches, then to the advertising watch fobs. I thought fobs would be easy and less money because they were giveaway items, what a foolish idea that was.Anyway, I now have quite a nice group of oil,gas and auto related fobs, among the all the fobs I have collected.
As all this was being gathered,I have picked up some cans, signs and any petro related items. I am now retired, but all my working years was tied to autos or heavy equipment operating/mechanic.
I have been reading with great interest the posts on repro signs. This is a very big problem in the watch fob world also. I have been involved in many meetings and talks much as your members are on this fight. It seems the best thing is keeping up to date all the time as to new fakes being made, and know your source. There will always be somebody after the easy buck.
If I figure how to post pictures and there is interest on the fobs, I will post some. A big Thank You to the people behind this great site. Raymond

Welcome to Oldgas, Been after a Pierce Pennant watch fob on ebay for sometime. They always rise over my comfort zone price wise. So I can only quess that collecting them is a very strong hobby. One came up for sale the other day with leather missing and hole drilled in it. Know oldtimers done this to accept a chain. Don't quess they worried about value down the road.
Enjoy best petro site on the internet!

Loyd, Thanks for the note of welcome. I did not follow the fob , I have one,it is not in the best of condition, but it will do until I find a nicer one. Many of this fob have poor plating that peels off, leaving them rough.Keep watching, you never know when it will come on E-Bay.As in all lines, good, original oil and gas fobs still do well.
Happy Hunting, Raymond
