I really don't think that the "ARC" in
HI-ARC has anything to do with the Atlantic Richfield Company. Especially if the product was sold by Atlantic starting in the late '40s and the merger didn't happen until '66. My oldest Atlantic map is from '51 and HI-ARC looks to be Atlantic's premium brand. It could be from Atlantic's true name; The Atlantic Refining Company or "ARC". Just a thought.
