What color do most of you paint your frames?

jason: picture frames, door frames, tv frames, patio door frames. specificity might help

SILVER is the color i see used the most.

i on the other hand paint the insides of a pump every color i can get my hands on. i use all the factory bolts & washers, i clean everything in the blast cabinet,
everything inside my pumps are multi color, brackets one color, frame another, a group of bolts one color, the VR, ETC....... its my trademark.

i went nutty on a couple pumps & multi colored pinstriped the insides.
my inner body panels get wild colors also.

I paint mine either silver or red oxide primer if it a Tokheim.

I was going to do my Tok 39 frame and base in a Semi Gloss Black. I have seen other pumps like this. But heck I'm new to this game and interested in everyones responces as well.

I am doing my very first pump in Mobil colors. Since I like red I had my frame powder coated red... yes its not origional but I don't care... it looks sweet IMHO.

I posted this idea before - but it bears repeating.

I do my frame and internals in a silver 'Hammertone' aerosol paint. This paint comes in a few different colors and really works well. With the hammertone finish, you can re-shoot an area after you assemble it if you mess up the finish on a bolt or scratch the frame, etc. It looks kewl and really brightens up the frame assembly.

I normally shoot the insides of the sides and doors in a flat or seim-flat black at the last possible moment. Then I assemble the pump ASAP as the flat black will smudge if you rub anything over it after it has dried. But the flat black with the silver hammertone on the frame makes the frame jump out at ya when you open the doors.

Another thing I do is to reproduce the numbers/info from the original I.D. plate onto a new reproduction plate. Then I bolt the old plate on the inside/new plate on the outside using the same mounting holes. That way, I have the original plate to show a potential buyer that the pump is an original pump - not made out of a bunch of reproduction parts. Especially now that some of the more desirable pumps are being rebopped.

Cool (or should it be kewl) idea on the pump id tags. I like displaying them with new tags and thats a way to preserve and prove authenticity of an old pump.

Super idea on the ID tags. I am going to put mine on that way.

Good info guys!! Another thing that works neat if you have crappy looking door backs (the side of the door you don't see);
Spray them with aerosol black undercoating. LOOKS NEAT!! Dries crinkly, flat black and hides a lot of sin.

Neal, It would be neat on one month of pumps to post a picture of the inside along with the outside. Just a thought.

I do most of my frame's in a light gray. It complment's any color you paint rest of your pump. Brian

I'm a believer in Rustoleum Industrial gray. It comes in both a rattle can and little half pints so things can be spraye and touched up with a brush if needed. For outdoor pumps it really weathers well.
