Just finished cleaning the Veeder Root Calculator on a Gilbarco 96C that I am restoring. Used a lot of WD 40, the outer covering was black with either caked on dirt,grease or paint. Now that it is clean, I do not know if it is supposed to be painted or to remain unpainted. Hope someone can answer this Qusetion. Thanks Barry

Good work barry, everything works O K ?? theres no need to paint it, I clean mine, then hit it with the green pad a little and thats it, unless you want too. up to you.

I clean mine then shoot them with a rattle can of Hammertone Silver (Lowes/Home Depot/etc.). Most of them are corroded from the years out in the elements and the hammertone goes on easy, lookd great, and you don't have to worry about getting a smooth finish - after all it's hammertone!

I clean the guts in all of mine with lots of WD40. I use an orbital sander to clean all the panels nice, and I spray all the panels, bells etc. with dupont nason, automotive paint. It looks really nice, and new that way.

Thanks guys, it cleaned up real well, no rust on it at all, so I guess I will leave it alone. Supposed to get the panels, base and frame back from the sandblasting shop ( mine bit the dust) tomorrow. Going to Dixie Gas on Thursday to get the rest of what I need to complete pump. Thanks again for your input. Barry

Thanks Mark, my first visit to Dixie Gas, so will be looking for your booth if I can find my way around, going to need all the rubber for doors and glass, ad glass, door glass. Don't know yet how I am going to finish off the pump, will depend on what globe and matching decals sets that are available.
