I was working at Chrysler Proving Grounds in Chelsea Michigan. My wife called my foreman when the first plane hit, we all figured a small plane ? A second call for the second plane we figured something serious was up. Watched everything unfold in a break room the rest of the morning. My company was nice enough to go belly up and bounce two pay checks the following day Wednesday the 12th. Spent the night of the 11th going outside and watching the fighters from SelfRidge Air Force Base fly over from time to time. My brother a Lt. Col in the Air Force was not heard from for a week when his wife called for the first time.
The minutes and hours are for ever etched in my mind and heart. Something this American will NEVER forget. The first anniversary we were out east, I remember hundreds of flags flying every where, especially on the over passes.
