Recently bought a pump to clean up and display in my shop- it's in decent shape with no rust but a couple small dents. So I'm pulling the panels off for straightening and paint. Front and back, no problem. For the 3rd I decided to do the side w/out the handle, etc. All the bolts along the vertical flange came off, looks like the top needs to come off first to release it though. There's Very little room to get up in there to get the bolts out. Should I chisel them off? Grind em? Or just keep at it?
My other question is about the inside parts. I'd like to remove as much as I can, but it all looks like its attached to the part with the numbers. How do I remove the bulk but keep the counter? Thanks for any advise- Greg

TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES & burn to a CD. They will come in handy for re-assembly.
Top should to be removed before side panels, for painting it needs to be removed anyway.
Take out the 1/4" shaft that connects to Veeder-Root, then remove all items below that.

Thanks Dick- I was able to get the top unbolted with a fine geared rachet, 1 click at a time!
I suspected that shaft was going to be my separation point.
I appreciate you taking the time to answer my "newbie" questions, I'm sure I'll have others as I go..

Strange, I do live in the desert so thankfully rust isn't a big problem here. I had to knock about 2 gallons of dried mud that was packed all over inside the machine, but like I said- absolutely no rust. Not complaining of course but just surprised.

I was planning on finishing it as a Mobil brand as I have more Mobil bits in my collection but I'm not sure if that's too cliche'? I've been checking around but don't see much in the way of local companies from the era (pacific NW). Just curious what the consensus is on rebranding pumps?

Get a Large Supply of BEER & take Lots of BREAKS. You WILL get Frustrated & that's the time to work on your Supply!

It's your pump & you are an Independent Operator, do it to your Specifications. YOU ARE THE ONE THAT WILL ENJOY IT MOST.
ALL Companies used these pumps, so who is to say "That's Wrong in those company colors/signage"? [I wouldn't do it in a company that was defunct by the time this pump was made, 1955-1960].

Most likely any questions you'll have, have been asked before, do a Google search of Oldgas by using the search box at bottom Right of this page. IF you don't find what your looking for, then ask.

The Tokheim 300 is the same pump just a different name, so look for your repop parts there. Save the face plates they are not repoped, the repop 300 will not fit. Have fun with your restoration but beware. Pumps multiply like rabbits. Richard

Great, thanks for the advise. Beer supply is not a problem- I'm a professional winemaker in the valley that grows the majority of hops for the worlds beer. Always a fresh keg on hand.
That's pretty much how I understood the branding. I think I will probably stick with Mobil- the flying horse goes well with my funny little foreign car.
Seems like they must have rabbit genes- everybody I see that has one- has 20!

I did get all the panels off intact and nearly all the inside that needs removed. I think I'll sandblast things and start doing a little hammer and dolly work soon.
