Philip, When i started collecting the repro globes were $85 a year or so ago maybe even 2 years ago before they droped to $69. I am not sure why they droped but they are back up to where they were 2 years ago.
I would guess price and demand. I am sure they make so many and have a supply for a year or even 2 and when they run low or out i would guess they rerun them hence the higher price.
One thing to keep in mind is as repro stuff goes up it might make more sence to buy the original stuff. One thing is for sure is original stuff is hard to beat!
