Hi, There been some discussion about water bags lately and got me thinking about this one I've had for awhile. Was it common for gas/oil companies to advertise on water bags or is this unusual ? anyone else have one they'd share ? Thanks !

^ I have one of those Pep boys ones. It's my favorite.

I also have a Pep-Boys one in my collection.

I didn't know they ever made such a item with the burlap looking material , those are really neat.

I guess they would stay cool due to evaporation or something? Not really sure how they work. Has anyone ever used one?

These are Rubberized insides w/ canvas covering.
Ice wasn't always available at places that sold gas, this was a better alternative to a jug of water.
Farmers/Sod Busters use to place a jug of water in shade & place a wet burlap sack over it for a cooler drink during the day.

My dad would bring one along when we took trips out to the mountains in Jasper National Park back in the 50s. You would find clear, clean mountain stream water running off the cliffs where the road was carved into the rock. He would fill up the bag and attach it to either the front grille or bumper of the car and it would stay cool from all the air passing over it as we drove down the road. We sold generic ones at the station. Never saw a Canadian gas station brand though. Interesting that the Pep Boys bag has a Canadian patent. Cheers, Don.

That last picture just gave me a twinge in the heart. I go past Johnson's Corner every time I go down I25 to Denver. The first time I fell in love with a Colorado lady in 1957 driving a 1949 Ford, I would stop at Johnson's Corner to have a cup of coffee and pick up a hitchhiker so that I wouldn't fall asleep at the wheel. Do that nowadays and see how long you would stay alive. Johnson's Corner was originally located on the corner of hwy 119 and US87 in Longmont, CO. Anyway this is the only two I have. Mitch
