Hi, I was driving home the other day and saw this Tokheim lubester at the end of a driveway for sale. I ended up buying it because the swivel arm pushes towards the pump and doesn't swivel to the side. I liked the look and it (other than being dirty) is in great shape with no rust. I think this is from the 1960's but don't know a lot about Lubesters in general. It is a Tokeheim Lubester, with a high 400,000 serial number, 30 gallon. Any help or info you all may have would surely be appreciated. Thanks in advance--timeinabottle

Not from the 60's, not even close, your unit appears to be a 630, 640, 645 Motor Oil Units (what Tokheim call them, they did not call them "Lubsters." Introduced in 1939. Pump on top of each of the tanks was all the same. The model number indicated the capacity of the tank: 630-30 gal. 640-62 gal. 645-62 gas. (tank different size, but still 62 gal.) Introduced in 1939 & made for many years after that. With a serial #in the 400,000 range it could have been made fairly late 50's-60's

good find! only things i see in my area at the end of driveways for sale are broken lawn mowers & busted up computer desks....

I check all my Tokheim price lists and cannot find any mention of any oil dispensers being offered by Tokheim after the 1930s.

Thanks for your info guys. I was thinking that the Chevron logo and the Zerolene logo, Standard Oil of California, Western Operations, Inc. logo, might help to date this motor oil unit. I didn't think the Chevron logo shown was introduced until about 1964. Regardless, I scooped this unit up for $25 no questions just because the pump was so different that the other 3 I own and different than any other I've seen.
