Basically my deal is like Jarvis and some others.
My collection can be in the basement/game room, or the garage, but you can forget about the rest of the house! It has also become clear to me that like in value, condition plays a huge role in what my wife likes. I still remember the look on her face when I pulled a "rough" sign from a box, and she said "gee dear, that one has a LOT of character, doesn't it..." but if it is a small NOS or close to it porcelain pump sigh she always says "that's really nice!"
It all goes out the door except the pump if I die first, however. She has decided to keep it in loving memory!
