Good evening, my name is Rob. I have been watching this site since it's inception. I have been collecting oil & gas memorabilia for over 20 yrs. I was raised in Texaco stations and a bulk oil facility that my father owned, thus the interest in the hobby. I collect mostly pumps, signs, antique and muscle cars along with other misc. interests. I just built a large two story garage with in floor heat behind my home to hold and work on my collection. I will go by the logo TY RACER for our 750 hp 1993 GMC Typhoon that my son and I are currently finishing up a restoration on for a projected spring 05 finish date ,then back to maybe a diplay pump to restore if Iam lucky! Since Scott Benjamin featured 3 of my National pumps in a special edition of Braglines in the July 04 issue of Petroleum Collectibles, thought it was time to sign up and maybe help some new people as I use to be a few yrs. ago. Enjoy reading all the posts and can't wait to meet some of you in person and on line. If there had been computers when I did my first pump in 1983, this site would have been a life saver! You guys do a real service to the hobby. Have a good one and glad to be on board!

WELCOME TY RACER,
Nice to have someone else that can remember back when repo parts were NOT avaible for restorations. How many pumps did you pass up because of missing parts ?

Hi Rob,
Thanks for introducing yourself. Glad you finally registered and posted a message. But I was glad all along that folks were visiting and getting something out of Oldgas.com. That's the reason I built this site, to make a community out of people scattered all around who share the same interests. You might not have a whole bunch of people in your zip code who can talk pumps and signs with you, but now you are part of an online community of petro enthusiasts. Welcome!

Rob:

Welcome.

Was one of the featured pumps that really nice National A-38-H? That was a gorgeous pump? I'd be interested in how you re-boped the lower hose assembly. Either post here for the education of everyone, or shoot me a private e-mail.

Later . . .

Jim

Welcome Rob, always a pleasure to have more "expertise" on board. This is the BEST site on the net and I'm sure you will only add to its prestige.
