I have seen a new book from PCM Called "Pcm's Guide to Gas Pump Restoration" by Wayne Henderson. Would this be a good buy for a beginer for restoring help. Maybe if anyone has any of his other books you could let me know how you like them. Thanks Trip

Trip, I haven't seen the new book yet, but it should definetly help as far as ID'ing correct colors and signage for pumps. As for "how to" restore a pump, I can't see how any book can talk a person thru a professional restoration. Each pump has it's own characteristics even though certain parts do bolt here and there. Good body work and prepping is a MUST. One must also have innovation and the ability to improvise, because some parts do not remove easily and will not go back on correctly. I priced a restoration to a fellow one time and he said "all you do is paint it, right?"...I laughed and just walked away from him. I would recommend the book though and good luck.

The other book that these guys have put out have been good so i would say this one will be to. Is it out yet? I didn't think it was done... maybe Scott B. can post it here when it is out.
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

According to PCM's website the book is done and will by shipping out in the next few days. I will be waiting for mine.
Drive with Care and Buy Sinclair!! I buy Sinclair globes, signs, cans, ect.

From everything that the authors have told me, this book will be the next big thing for the hobby. I will be offering the Gas Pump Restoration Guide here on Oldgas.com as soon as they are available. That should be real soon, but I'm not taking anyone's money until I have the books. I'll post the news here on Shop Talk when the book is ready.

I have asked at a few book stores, even Barns and Noble , they don't even show it as coming soon. I guess they just don't know good books .

Hey Trip, Are you haveing trouble restoring a pump? I just started a project = National A-1 double showcase. and I've been takeing pictures of most of the steps. and a lot of the steps are not going tobe in a book. I'm not the best builder in the hobby, but mine come out OK . if you would like I can send you step by step pictures and explanations. I thought about doing a tread on here. (fixed income pump restoration)
