I just bought a curved Texaco Sky Chief sign from Ebay that is dated 1940. The description said that it must have been on a pole because its curved. My question is what year spand were there curved signs on pumps? Is 1940 to late?
I dont have the sign yet so I cant post any pictures. Its in my normal condition = rough and rusty just how I like them.

In Calif. visible pumps were not outlawed for public use till the late 40's. There were a few rare instances where it was such a desolate area [no electric] that the pumps were still in use into the 60's.

I have the same sign with same date, and do not know where it was used, it appears to be an original sign, however it would fit a pole. or something that was not tapered,a lot better than say a Wayne 615, and not to big a diameter either.I will be watching for an answer. Norm.

Those were more than likely visible pump signs, or round clock Face like a Tok 850 or the very few round electrics.

It wasn't until 1940 that Texaco made their first porcelain pump plates for Fire-Chief & Sky Chief. They were made for visibles and measured 8 X 12 or 12 X 18....
