Just about done redoing a Bennette 1066 and would like to know about what time this model was made so I can set the gas price per gallon on the computer. One other thing how does the access door attach on the bottom ring that goes around buy the price change gears on a 56 computer? Does it go on the inside or outside of ring. Just pushed down over the bottom edge? Thanks.

According to the Illustrative Guide to Gas Pumps, Bennett 1066 was produced in the 1957-58 time frame.

Post the Serial number from the ID tag, and I will let you know the month and the year your pump was made. Also, post the city and the state you live in and I will give you the price of gas at the closest city.
Also, if you would like to get on the list of persons who are interested in my new Gas Pump ID book, let me know by email, in respect to Jim, I do not take email address from the Old Gas profiles.

Come on... Isn't about time, you did some of your own research, You've been on Oldgas for 2 years, now.

At least, give it a try and if you can't get close, then you can let the Membership know that you did put some effort forth...

You are the one who lives in the area... Check with your local Historical Society, to see if they kept such records... Or go online and see what West Coast Gas Prices averaged during the time period and then add two to three cents per gallon... Based on Maple Valley being off the "beaten path" compared to Renton and/or Federal Way; where most likely a fuel distributor would have been situated...

In both 1957 and 1958; gasoline had an average price of .24 per gallon in the U.S. (it took me about 1 minute to find that on the 'net. On http://www.fiftiesweb.com/pop/prices-1957.htm
